The New York Daily News has an article online about CW’s decision to drop WWE to favour a younger female demographic with more shows aimed at them. Dawn Ostroff, entertainment president of CW said that the network loves the low-rated "Gossip Girl" as it gets a great buzz, much of it from the Internet rather than traditional TV airings, with the right people, who are women 18 to 34. This caused them to drop one of their top rated shows SmackDown because it attracts the wrong people (men).

"There was virtually no flow between the audience that watched WWE and anything else on CW," she said. "We decided the most important criterion is branding the network." Click Hereto read the article

I still do not completely understand this decision. Yes, there is not necessarily a lot of viewer "flow" from Smackdown to other shows on the CW. Personally, I do not watch a single show on the CW except for Smackdown. However, you have to consider that this is one of their top rated shows and it draws in viewers that otherwise might not be watching the network at all. With what seems to be a recent emphasis on improving the Smackdown brand (especially with Mick Foley, JR, Triple H, Jeff Hardy, a new championship etc.), I suppose it is probably the CW's loss and MyNetworkTV's gain.

You never know, half naked men getting sweaty in the ring...might still work out for those women. I know I pay attention to the half naked women getting sweaty...

Well folks, the CW is going to become the next Lifetime, not to mention, they're going to be showing their infamous America's Next Top Model.

It's a shame what The CW has become.

Thanks alot Dawn.
